So lets see.......It's been so long since I have been on here that I am alot behind!!! I am bowling on Wednesday nights.....It's now been almost a year since my wrists have been operated on and they freaking ache now....SUCKS!!!! Especially when i get to the 3rd game and I have to squeeze the ball so damn hard to keep a hold of it. i am currently averaging 185..yah for me! I spent most of my week last week in Hammond , IN watching my wonderful pros battle it out! I feel like i am on cloud 9 when i am there. There are a select few that I talk to but its a euphoric feeling for me to see them bowling. They are my celebrities.....screw Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise....Give me Danny Wiseman and Tommy Delutz Jr., .......Throw a little Michael Haugen Jr in the mix and it's bowling heaven. I got into a car accident last Saturday night coming home from the PBA pro ams and am contemplating bowling this Wed cause my neck and right hip got hurt and you kind of need both of them to bowl.....I don't know, we'll have to see. Leave me some comments guys!
Is it safe to bowl injured?
I like to think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I had my only child via c-section, I got bit by both of my dogs at the same time while i was pregnant resulting in 13 stitches and I had both of my knees operated on at the same time. However after having my surgeries on my wrists I thought it was going to be sooth sailing and I'd be back on me feet in no time. WRONG! My right hand has gotten so bad that to make a fist hurts, to move my fingers sends pain all the way up my arm and to bowl puts my hand through the wringer. I can't however stop myself from bowling. I remember my doctor telling me to do everything like I did before cause i can't hurt anything and thats what I've done. I also have been bowling really good since my right hand operation. My average has climbed 4 pins from 169 to 173 in a month and I've had 4 600 series and i think 10 plus 200 games which I think is phenominal this soon afterwards. My problem is I have to heavily wrap both hands, I wear a glove for the extra traction and I have resulted to taking pain meds right off the bat to counter act the pain and stiffness. It's not all bad though cause after the first game I loosen up to the point where I can bowl (or the pain meds kick in). I finally broke down and called my hand surgeon today to get some anti-inflammatories to try to kick this thing out of me. So the crossroad I am at is this. Do I take a few weeks off to try to heal myself not knowing if it's going to work or do I rough it out for the next 10 weeks and rest over the summer since I technically can't hurt anything and I do seem to be bowling well. I would appreciate EVERYONES feedback in this as I am torn about the whole situation! Thanks for reading!
